Charging in summer and winter. In Northern Europe the solar energy available during the 6 summer months is about 2.5 x the energy available in the 6 winter months. To charge an accumulator in about the same time (say two sunny days) all the year round you would need at least double the panel area for summer use only. For a 12 v system a single 85 W panel will supply about 15 Ah/day in Summer and 6 Ah/day in Winter. These amounts scale up accordingly for 2, 3, or 4 panels in parallel. For a 24 v system a single 180 W panel will provide about 16 Ah/day in Summer and 6.3 Ah/day in Winter. |
